Introduction to Kalari Sangha Workshop with Jennifer Ellen MuellerSaturday to Sunday, June 29-30
What is Kalari?
Kalari, or Kalarippayat, is a vigorous movement-based practice from southern India. It is as old as yoga and ayurveda, and incorporates elements of yoga, some martial arts and dance. Yoga's powerful sister, Kalari is a transformative practice; challenging, but suitable for anyone used to moving their body regularly. Though Kalari is just beginning to be known in the west, it is rapidly becoming recognized as an excellent way to improve physical fitness, increase mental strength and facilitate emotional balance.
What is Kalari Sangha?
KALARI SANGHA promotes and teaches Kalarippayat in the lineage and tradition of - C. M. Sherif Gurukkal. This intact oral lineage is one of the few which comprehensively teaches all three styles of Kalarippayat, as well as the Healing Art of Kalari Chikitsa, and the shamanic postures of Kalari Yoga. Kalari Sangha is a school of Kalari that utilizes the ‘series’ approach to practice, which emphasizes going deeper into the practice over time, gaining proficiency and precision through repetition .
'Intro to Kalari', emphasizes fundamental elements of the practice in order to begin condition the body at a gentler pace that allows for precision, gives confidence, and builds a strong foundation for a lifetime of practice.
The Kalari practitioner is commonly referred to as 'abhyasi', the repeating one. In this two day workshop, new abhyasis will be introduced to some key warm-up and conditioning elements, as well as foundational movements of the practice.
No special equipment is necessary to practice Kalari, just wear comfortable clothes that you can move easily in, bring a hand towel, and be prepared to sweat.

Sunday: 10:30 am-1:00 pm
Investment: Preregistration $65 for workshop/ $35 per class or $45 per class door
